
The Challenge:
Arc Worldwide brought us in to help create this our newest Augmented Reality (AR) for cereal giant Kellogg’s® and their Corn Pops® Brand. We put our AR expertise to the task with the goal of creating a fun, immersive, and very interactive experience.
The Execution:
As this was the first Augmented Reality endeavour Arc brought E-axis in for, the early stages really brought our expertise to bear when designing this latest Kellogg’s Corn Pops promotion. Working from designs from Arc’s Creative Account Team, E-axis built not only the AR experience itself but the microsite as well. In addition, we provided a back up experience that allows for those who may not have a web cam to join in on the fun too.
Promotions both online and offline prompts kids to go to a designated website www.itspopnetic.ca. Once there, all they have to do is show their specially designed box of Corn Pops containing a web marker to their webcam. The kids were then amazed when the box of cereal comes to life in their hands. Combining movements of the cereal box with keyboard gestures the user is able to create a fantastic display of musical beats, graphics, and well… POPS. The user can draw the box away from the camera or closer to it or turns it left and right and the box would respond by becoming an equalizer changing tempo, sound, colors and graphics.
For those who do not have a webcam, we recreated the experience to play just using keyboard gestures -- so that no one misses out of the fun!
The Result:
Launched in January 2010, the site garnered much attention -- thousands of children have been wowed by this truly unique and interactive experiance.
